Plan Ahead - Apply Lime Early
Because it can take several months for lime to effectively change soil pH to desirable levels, checking and amending the soil in spring/early summer will allow ample time to enhance the soil before the fall plantings occur. Although not required, disking lime into the root zone is helpful. Ensuring proper soil pH plays a significant role in nutrient availability for plants, and can be the difference in food plot success or failure.
